Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a crucial virtual meeting with Chief Ministers of various states to review India’s preparedness in view of the ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting lasted for nearly two hours.

The primary focus of the meeting was to ensure that the supply of oil, gas, and essential commodities remains uninterrupted across the country despite global uncertainties. The Prime Minister emphasized that while the Centre is taking all necessary steps, state governments play a critical role in implementing these measures effectively at the grassroots level.

PM Modi urged all Chief Ministers to make adequate arrangements within their respective states to prevent any disruption in the availability of essential goods for the common people. He also called for strict monitoring of supply chains and asked states to remain vigilant in the current situation.

Highlighting the importance of unity during crises, the Prime Minister recalled the coordinated efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. He stated that the Centre and states had worked together as “Team India” during the pandemic and a similar collaborative approach is required to tackle the present challenges.

Referring to the early days of the pandemic in March 2020, PM Modi noted that he had held multiple meetings with Chief Ministers to ensure effective management of testing, contact tracing, and healthcare services.

The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on coordination, preparedness, and ensuring that citizens do not face any inconvenience due to global developments.
