Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday paid tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary. Remembering Vajpayee’s contribution to nation-building, commitment to democratic values and dedication to the country, Saini said his thoughts and ideals would continue to inspire future generations to serve the nation.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee dedicated his entire public life to the service of the nation. His strong determination, unwavering faith in his principles and deep commitment to democratic traditions made him one of the most influential figures in Indian politics. Saini said that although Vajpayee is no longer among us, his thoughts and political legacy will continue to remain alive in the hearts of the people.
The Chief Minister said that Vajpayee always placed national interest above everything else during his political career. His powerful speeches in Parliament, simple yet effective political style and clear perspective on national issues played an important role in strengthening Indian democracy. He added that Vajpayee’s vision continues to serve as a source of guidance for those working in public life.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was among the most prominent political leaders of post-Independence India. He served as the Prime Minister of the country three times. He first assumed office in 1996 and later led coalition governments from 1998 to 1999 and from 1999 to 2004. As one of the founding leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Vajpayee was widely known for his exceptional oratory, parliamentary contributions and significant role in shaping India’s political landscape.
Vajpayee was conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2015. He passed away on August 16, 2018, at the age of 93. On his death anniversary, political leaders and dignitaries across the country paid tribute to the former Prime Minister and remembered his immense contribution to public life and nation-building.
