A 32-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband following a dispute over suspicion about her character in Guru Nanak Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Baldev Nagar police station in Ambala, on Sunday evening.
Accused, identified as Bunty, allegedly attacked his wife, Hina, with a kitchen knife while he was under the influence of alcohol. During the altercation, he reportedly stabbed her multiple times in the abdomen, chest and elbow.
According to the complaint filed by Hina’s brother Nannu, Bunty had been suspicious of his wife’s character and frequently quarrelled with her over phone calls and conversations with others. He had also allegedly threatened to kill her during previous disputes.
Family had been living in a rented house in Guru Nanak Nagar for around three months. Hina and Bunty had been married for nearly 13 years and had two children—a 11-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter. Bunty worked as a factory labourer.
Police said that around 4:30 pm on Sunday, Hina was washing clothes in the courtyard when Bunty returned home allegedly in an intoxicated condition. He again accused her of having an affair and started abusing her. During the argument, Hina reportedly told him that she wanted a divorce due to the ongoing harassment.
Bunty allegedly became enraged, threatened her and picked up a knife from the kitchen before attacking her. Hina sustained multiple stab wounds and collapsed in a pool of blood.

When Nannu tried to intervene and save his sister, Bunty allegedly threatened to kill him as well before fleeing the spot.
Based on Nannu’s complaint, Baldev Nagar police have registered a case against Bunty under relevant sections pertaining to murder and criminal intimidation. Police teams are conducting raids to trace and arrest the accused.
