The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has stepped up its strategy to strengthen law and order and control crime in the city. Police Commissioner Satinder Singh held a strategic meeting with gazetted officers to review the security situation, pending investigations and activities of criminals. During the meeting, he directed officers to ensure that no investigation remains pending unnecessarily and that timely action is taken in every case.
The Police Commissioner instructed officers to conduct regular reviews of pending cases and speed up investigations while maintaining the quality of probe. Investigating officers were directed to act promptly on the basis of available facts and evidence so that victims receive timely justice.
Special emphasis was placed on preventive and intelligence-based policing. Officers were asked to strengthen the information network at the ground level, keep a close watch on suspicious activities and gather timely intelligence about crime-related networks. Monitoring is also to be increased in sensitive areas and locations identified as vulnerable from a crime perspective. Officers were further directed to review the records and activities of habitual offenders and anti-social elements.
Satinder Singh made it clear that negligence in duty would not be tolerated at any level and accountability would be fixed wherever required. He also stressed the need to make field policing more effective at the police station level and increase direct interaction between police personnel and residents. The objective is to ensure that information about potential crimes and suspicious activities reaches the police at the earliest.
The meeting also discussed organised crime, criminal activities, pending investigations and various aspects of the city’s security arrangements. The Police Commissioner said that the zero-tolerance policy against crime would continue in Jalandhar and effective action would be taken against anyone violating the law.
He also called for better coordination among different police units, quick response to complaints and sensitive handling of victims’ concerns. Officers were directed to ensure fair and prompt action in every case.
The Commissionerate Police reiterated that the safety of city residents remains its top priority. Efforts will continue to make Jalandhar safer through faster investigations, a stronger intelligence network, effective field policing and strict accountability.
