Veteran Bollywood actor Jeetendra ruled the silver screen for decades with his unique style and energetic dance moves. Known for delivering back-to-back superhits, he carved a distinct identity in the industry. Over a remarkable career spanning more than six decades, he has appeared in over 200 films, earning him the nickname ‘Jumping Jack’. As the actor celebrates his 84th birthday on April 7, here’s a look at his incredible journey in cinema.

Breakthrough with ‘Farz’

Jeetendra’s debut film Navrang failed to make a significant impact at the box office. However, he rose to fame with his first hit, Farz, released in 1967. After that, there was no looking back. During the 1970s and 1980s, he dominated the big screen with consistent success. Between 1977 and 1987, he had more than seven film releases every year. Notably, he had 12 releases in 1981, 14 in 1982, and 11 in 1986—an extraordinary feat in Bollywood.

From Struggles to Massive Success

Jeetendra’s journey is equally inspiring off-screen. From earning just ₹100 to building a massive fortune reportedly worth ₹1,512 crore (as per Times of India), his rise has been phenomenal. Before achieving stardom, he worked as a body double for actresses and even took up jobs as a jewellery supplier to make ends meet—proving that his success is the result of sheer hard work and determination.
