President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Shimla Monday on a five day visit to Himachal Pradesh. She was given a warm welcome at the Kalyani Helipad in Chharabra, near Shimla. Himachal Governor Kavinder Gupta and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu received the President and extended greetings on behalf of the people of the state.

Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh (designated as Minister-in-Waiting for the visit), MP Suresh Kumar Kashyap, Shimla Mayor Surender Chauhan, Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari, and Chief of Staff Lt Gen S.S. Dhaiya along with senior officials from the state government and the armed forces.

Extensive security arrangements have been put in place across Shimla for the President’s visit. She is scheduled to stay at the Retreat in Shimla. A heavy police presence has been deployed throughout the city, with security personnel stationed at key locations. Barricading has been set up along major roads to ensure smooth movement, although it has caused inconvenience to pedestrians in areas like Sanjauli and Dhalli. Traffic has also been halted during VIP movement, leading to disruptions for commuters.

President Murmu will attend various events in Shimla and other districts of the state during her visit.
