Punjab is currently experiencing severe heat, with many areas facing water shortages, adding to residents difficulties. Frequent power cuts have further worsened the situation.
On Tuesday, Bathinda and Faridkot recorded temperatures of 41.6°C, while Jalandhar witnessed its highest temperature so far this season at 40.2°C. The minimum temperature was recorded at 19.6°C.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Thursday and Friday, warning of heatwave conditions.
According to the department, a new western disturbance will affect the western Himalayan region from April 23, with its impact expected in Punjab as well. Due to this, light rainfall is likely in some areas on April 26 and 27.
