The portals of the Kedarnath shrine were opened to devotees at 8 AM today during an auspicious muhurat, following traditional rituals and prayers. Thousands of pilgrims gathered to witness this sacred moment and now the Pilgrimage has started.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, accompanied by his wife, visited the shrine and offered special prayers, wishing for the prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.
The shrine of Baba Kedar was magnificently decorated with nearly 51 quintals of flowers, leaving devotees mesmerized.
Pilgrims from across the country and abroad had already reached the shrine to be part of the grand opening ceremony. As the temple doors opened, flower petals were showered from helicopters, adding to the spiritual fervor.
Upon arrival, devotees welcomed the ceremonial palanquin (doli) with flower showers. The doli circumambulated the temple before entering the sanctum’s treasury chamber, where rituals were completed as per tradition.
Elaborate security arrangements were in place, with personnel from the police and ITBP deployed across the area.
In his message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged devotees to follow five key pledges: maintain cleanliness, protect the environment, promote a spirit of service and cooperation, support local products, and adhere to pilgrimage guidelines.
