India’s legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 53rd birthday on Friday, with the cricket fraternity and fans across the globe extending heartfelt wishes. Known as the ‘God of Cricket,’ Tendulkar continues to inspire generations with his remarkable legacy both on and off the field.
Honoured with the Bharat Ratna in 2014, Tendulkar enjoyed an illustrious international career. He scored 15,921 runs in 200 Test matches and 18,426 runs in 463 One Day Internationals. He remains the only cricketer in history to have scored 100 international centuries, including 51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs.
Tendulkar was part of India’s ODI World Cup campaigns from 1992 to 2011 and finally achieved his dream of lifting the trophy in 2011. He retired from international cricket in November 2013 after playing his 200th Test, marking the end of a golden era in Indian cricket.
International Cricket Council Chairman Jay Shah praised Tendulkar’s immense contribution to the sport, calling him an enduring inspiration. The Board of Control for Cricket in India also paid tribute by highlighting his unmatched records and achievements.
Former India stars including Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, and Shikhar Dhawan shared warm messages, praising his discipline, humility, and lasting impact on the game.
His son Arjun Tendulkar also wished him in a simple yet heartfelt manner. IPL franchises Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings joined in celebrating the cricket icon on social media.
Tendulkar marked the occasion with his family at his Mumbai residence and shared a picture with his mother and wife, calling it the “perfect start” to his special day.
