A tragic road accident occurred on the Kachhwa–Bahlolpur road in Karnal district on Thursday morning when a Mahindra 575 tractor-trolley carrying five people overturned into a paddy field near Bahlolpur village. Three persons were killed on the spot after being trapped under the vehicle, while two others sustained serious injuries.

According to police and local sources, the group was travelling from Kachhwa to Bahlolpur to load fodder (toori) when the accident took place. The tractor reportedly went out of control after hitting a pothole on the road and overturned into a roadside field, trapping all five occupants beneath it.

Local villagers rushed to the spot and helped rescue the victims. All five were taken to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital, Karnal, where doctors declared three of them dead. The two injured persons are undergoing treatment and their condition is stated to be serious.

The deceased have been identified as Abrar (28), Khalid (24), and their maternal uncle Fajru. All three were residents of Sohni Umarpur village in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. The tractor was being driven by Naushad, while Arshad and Sonu were also travelling on the vehicle.

Family members said the group had left their village around 1:30 am and was headed to Bahlolpur to collect fodder. Tragically, Khalid had recently got engaged, making the loss even more devastating for the family.

Police reached the accident site soon after receiving information and have started an investigation. Legal proceedings are underway, and officials are examining the exact circumstances that led to the mishap.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the victims’ native village, as all those involved belonged to the same community and had travelled together for work.
