Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a boat ride on the Hooghly River in Kolkata on Friday morning. He also shared pictures of the experience on social media.
Posting the images, the Prime Minister wrote, “Some more glimpses of the Hooghly. During the boat ride on this great river, I also tried my hand at photography. I captured close-up shots of Vidyasagar Setu and Howrah Bridge.”
Sharing more photos, PM Modi highlighted the emotional and cultural significance of the Ganga for Bengalis. “The Ganga holds a special place in the hearts of every Bengali. It can be said that the Ganga flows through the soul of Bengal. Its sacred waters carry with them an entire civilization,” he wrote.
He further added, “This morning in Kolkata, I spent some time along the banks of the Hooghly River. It was an opportunity to express gratitude to Maa Ganga. It was also a chance to meet the hardworking boatmen and interact with people out for their morning walk.”
The Prime Minister also met locals along the riverbank and reiterated his commitment to working together for the development of West Bengal and the prosperity of its people.
