Punjab and Chandigarh see Severe Heatwave; Yellow Alert Issued

Punjab and Chandigarh are currently experiencing intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures rising significantly above normal levels.

Bathinda and Faridkot recorded a maximum temperature of 44.3°C, while Chandigarh registered 41.0°C. The temperature has increased by 0.5°C compared to Friday and is nearly five degrees above the seasonal average.

The Meteorological Centre in Chandigarh has issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions across Punjab and Chandigarh for today. Warm night conditions are also expected in Chandigarh. However, relief may be on the way, as rain and thunderstorms have been forecast between April 26 and April 30.

Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated places in 10 districts Moga, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka, Barnala, Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Sangrur, and Patiala.

Meanwhile, warm night conditions are expected at some locations in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Faridkot, Fazilka, Barnala, and Ludhiana. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in Fazilka, Muktsar, and Bathinda.
